Bad, bad blogger

May 27, 2007

That’s what I am!
I just can’t seem to work up a routine for blogging.
Or designing for that matter. I just don’t give myself the time to do it. So I decided to quit the Page-A-Day challenge at SBB starting June 1st (sorry Colleen). All my spare computer time seems to go into keeping up with the challenge, so as long as I’m in, I’ll never get to all that other fun stuff. I did come too far in May to give up now, so I will finish this month. Only 8 more to go!

Yesterday when we were visiting my parents, I photographed all kinds of flowers, plants and interesting textures. So I have lots of stuff to use for my designs. I’m a horrible gardner, so I can’t find that sort of stuff in my own backyard! LOL. I think I will have to get out more often to go on little texture quests.

Yesterday was also a big surprise day at SBB because of the lanch of the new site design, with all sorts of chats, challenges and freebies. I managed to make it to a few and even finished a layout! This was for the template crop with Amy Bleser.

This is me

Last week I got some great news!
One of the best known (paper) scrapbookstores here in Holland, Pien’s Atelier, has decided to start doing ’something’ with digi. Digital scrapbooking is still pretty new over here, but it’s starting to make its way around. They don’t know exactly what and how yet, but they did invite me to become their first digital design team member! Not sure yet what it will bring me, but I can’t wait to find out!

Well, I guess I better get to scrappin’! The sooner I finish those layouts, the sooner I can start designing and sharing freebies again!

Let’s give it another try

April 20, 2007

Well, again it’s been forever since my last post. This time it got so bad that all my 4shared links had expired, because I didn’t log into my account for more than a month. Luckily for me I only use that site to share my files and not to save them!
So I went back and restored all the links that were already here on my blog. So if you came by and missed out on the links just try again now.

Anyway, I’ve promised myself to better my scrapping habits. I don’t have to go all out like I did the first two months of the year, but it has to get better than it has been since. (I think I finished like three LO’s since March 1.)

So hopefully I’ll get to posting a lot more in the days to come.
Have a great day!

I guess I’m back

March 21, 2007

I know it has been forever since I posted. Just had so much going on here at home, that I didn’t even scrap a single layout for two or three weeks. Last weekend I did finally get to making a little baby album for people from our church.

I used the Splash Piece-A-Cake Album by Shabby Princess.

I’m amazed how people have still managed to find my kit (even though I haven’t posted for so long) and I love all the sweet comments that were left. I guess I should come up with something new soon.

Well, I’m off to scrap a bit. I used to be in the Page-A-Day challenge at SBB. I haven’t scrapped anything for the month of March, so let’s see if perhaps I can get something in for the last week of it.

Operation Day

March 6, 2007

Yared had his operation yesterday. All went well and I guess we’ll find out how it turned out pretty soon. When we got to the hospital he first got an injection to make him a little drowsy, which resulted in an hour of fun until it was time for him to go to the operating room. It just looked like he was drunk. He thought everything was soooo funny and had a very goofy smile. Also he could hardly sit up straight, because he was so drowsy but he really wanted to play. So every now and then he just fell over.

Yared at the hospital

It all went very well when they put in the IV line, but when they tried to put in the anasthesia through it, it really hurt him, so they stopped and used a mask to bring him to sleep. Of course that was all pretty scary for him, so when he woke up again he was very frustrated and it was pretty hard to calm him down. He just wanted the IV to go out, get dressed and go home. That last thing wasn’t possible yet, since it would take some time before the doctor was finished in the OR and could come look at him. But when he found out there was a toyroom, he didn’t really care about it anymore. Every now and then he would stop to say that his eye was hurting, but then he would just continue to play. After we got home in the afternoon, he really cheered up and was pretty much back to his old self again. The only problem we have left now is the he needs eyedrops for a week, to prevent infection and he hates it. Instead of cooperating by opening his eye, he just squeezes them shut real tight. I just hope that’s gonna get better, before the week’s over.

Well, that’s about it for my personal ramblings. I better get to creating that freebie soon, since I never got to it last week.

February 27, 2007

I just want to thank everyone for checking out my freebie and all the nice comments you all gave. Not just here, but also at SBB and the download site. I’ll see if I can some up with another goodie some time this week. Meanwhile I’m also working on a full kit, which I will also be sharing. I just have no idea how long it’s gonna take me to finish. I’ve come quite a way with my papers, but I still have to think through the elements. I can already tell you it will be a very boyish kit. That’s what you get living in a house merely populated by men, LOL.

We went to the hospital with Yared today for his pre-op screening. Luckily they didn’t have to draw blood (phew) and he was a real trooper hanging around there for almost three hours. He is known to start whining if he’s forced into an unwanted situation, but I guess he really had fun. He just got to play in between all the talks we had with the doctor, the nurse and the anesthesiologist and no big fits during the eye exam either. (That usually gets him all cranky.) Now I actually feel pretty much at ease about everything that’s going to happen. Even though I know I will be all nervous come Monday. Good thing I have my always sane and sound DH by my side to calm me down.

When I picked up Aydin from school today, I took him to the toystore. We had some birthdays this weekend and Aydin took his (empty) wallet with him, because he wanted to show everyone he had one. Of course all that family thought it was just a pitty to see a four-year-old with an empty wallet and he managed to ‘collect’ almost €3,- (about $4,-) in change. Of course all that money was burning in his pocket, so today he got to see if he could find something to buy for his money. He ended up buying Cars stickers and he was so proud of it too! He also got all sorts of ideas about what to ask for his birthday (mostly Cars stuff too, LOL).
It’s the first time he’s actually anticipating about his birthday so far ahead and that he actually wants a say in everything that has to do with it. That’s a bit of getting used to for me, since I really want to be holding all the ropes in things like that. Unbelievable, my firstborn is turning 5 and I already have to start letting go of things, LOL.

Well, I’ll have to leave it at this for today. It’s been a long day and I am soooo tired, so I better go to bed now.

Work in progress

February 22, 2007

Well, it’s a work in progress, but I’m getting there. I figured out how I can zip my files (finally!). So glad I have Scrapbookbytes to find my answers. I practically live there, LOL. I found a site from where I can share my freebies and I managed to get the different subjects on the side in place. Now I just have to figure out how I can put everything on here the way I want it. Like pictures. And links wrapped in text or pictures. I’m a total programming newbie, so I have to figure everything out from scratch. I was already amazed that I could actually produce a personalized signature for the forums at SBB, so go figure!

The first freebie will probably be a template, so let’s see if I can get a preview in here:

I guess that worked, woohoo!
That was easier than I thought.

Better go figure out the rest to be able to leave ya’ll with a working download link.

Here it goes!

February 17, 2007

Well then, here’s the first post to my new blog. My goal is to just share a little about what happens in my life and to share some digi-scrappin’ stuff. Eventually anyway, since I don’t have anything to put up here yet. But I’m working on creating some stuff and then, as soon as I figure out how to get it here, I’ll share it!

So come back soon!
